KUMAMOTO

Kumamoto is a lot of nature and water, all the people in there has used it a long time. In such a environmental made to born Kumamoto's famous foods, which it also has long background.

At first, I introduce to BASASHI and KARASHIRENKON. They were made by kiyomasa kato who governed in HIGO in past time. HIGO is the name of old region in Japan, which it has changed Kumamoto. He was a strong captain in there. When the war of HIGO and another region, BASASHI and KARASHIRENKON were made for many their corps because of lack of foods. BASASHI is row fresh of horse meat, horse was often used many conflict. So he considered whether it can eat or not for his men. He tried eating the meat first. It is origin of BASASHI.

Next I explain to TAIPI-EN, which it is soup with a bean- starch vermicelli. In short, it's a Chinese soup but not really Chinese. In the past time, immigrant from Chinese came to Kumamoto. So they formed own culture, where TAIPI-EN was made by them. Also they taught Kumamoto's people how to make it, but it changed the shape day by day, Now the shape is different past time. School lunch in Kumamoto is sure served for it. Kumamoto's people love it very much.

Third, I will introduce Kumamoto's sweets. In the first instance I tell IKINARI DANGO. It is a Japanese style sweets, dumpling in sweet potato. Ikinari is Kumamoto's accent and means simple so it can make it easily. It makes us JIN DAIKO and MUSHAGAESHI is the most popular sweets for Kumamoto's people, which have no people who didn't eat it.

I like Kumamoto's food very much, it makes us remember our hometown or our grand-parents. The famous foods in kumamoto is the important thing in Kumamoto's culture, we must leave it to our futurity.
